Portland Business Luncheons presents the 32nd Annual Christmas Luncheon with keynote speaker Robert King. Friday, December 14th, 2018 from 11:15 am to 1:30 pm at the DoubleTree by Hilton.
Robert King is a retired Commander of the North Precinct of the Portland Police Bureau. In 1991 while on duty, Robert was stabbed by a suspect and survived. Ironically this one traumatic event began a 27-year friendship with Wendell Birkland who was Robert’s attorney through the investigative process.
Their friendship became a catalyst for Robert to become active in racial reconciliation in the community.
Robert has worked with community members and police colleagues to create a space for encouraging diverse people to navigate through differences and see similarities in each other’s humanity.
A Northeast Portland native, Robert attended Central Catholic High School and graduated from Portland State University. Robert and his wife Marci have three grown children. Robert credits his faith in Jesus with the nurturing love he was shown by his Mexican grandmother as a child.
This Christmas season, come be inspired by a message of hope, healing and love from a man who is deeply grateful to have served his community for many years, and who continues to pray for the safety, health and healing of the lives he served.
